Come and have a go at the Hestercombe Woodland Wander Fun Run through the beautiful woodland surroundings of Hestercombe Gardens. No times, no pressure, this event is all about fun and is great for beginners and those running for the first time. Our 5k is perfect for people thinking about entering a10k run but looking for something smaller to build their confidence . For those that prefer a slower pace, try our 2k fun run or why not walk the route (bring the dog!). This is a great event for families and an opportunity to make the most of the peaceful woodland and lake views.
The Bridgwater Bolt 10k is back, bigger and better than before, and kicks off our Race Series for 2017. A predominantly flat route with a nice mix of urban and country scenery. After selling out last year and having a huge waiting list we have opened bookings early and have increased the number of entries. Beautiful views of the Quantock Hills and Somerset Levels add to the attraction of this exciting race.
Take a “Dash” through stunning scenery and magnificent historic landscapes and sign up to the Dorchester Dash Triathlon. Starting at the Centre's indoor 25m pool with a 400m swim you will then tackle a 24km bike course which exits Dorchester via Poundbury and takes you to the summit of Hardy's Monument. Returning to the Centre, you then start the 5km run route which visits Maiden Castle, an Iron Age Hill Fort, which dates back to 4000BC.
The Chard Chaser 10k is back for a second year, taking place on Sunday 10 September 2017. Due to its huge success in 2016 we have increased entries and expect these to sell out once again. This is a one lap route which starts from 1610 Chard on Jarman Way and then onto country roads and rough tracks through Cuttiford’s Door and Chardleigh Green. The course profile has an undulating gradient with some challenging hills. Scenic views of the countryside and Blackdown Hills add to the attraction of this event.
The Cary Canter (or should that be Cary Crippler) is a tough, muddy, multi terrain course with stunning country views. It has a challenging hilly route taking in breath taking views of Glastonbury Tor, King Alfred’s Tower and Bruton Lodge Hill Fort. Regular participants love this event for its mud, hills and rough terrain.
The race starts and finishes at Caryford Fitness and Leisure Centre, where you will have use of the changing rooms, showers and toilets.
Starting and finishing at Collett Park in the centre of Shepton Mallett, leaving the park crossing Charlton Road down past the town’s famous prison and weaving through the streets before escaping onto scenic country lanes. Its a hilly but picturesque route all on tarmac - watch out for the 2 challenging hills along the way!
