Torrington Swimming Pool

Torrington Pool is calling on all kind hearted swimmers to take part in the first ever “ Torrington Trawler” sponsored swimming event at the pool on January 31.

There are 4 distances which swimmers can choose to complete to raise funds for the 1610 charity of the year, the rugby based charity the Wooden Spoon which helps disadvantaged children.

Torrington to Bideford – 6.4 miles = 410 Lengths

Great Torrington to Little Torrington – 3.5 miles = 224 Lengths

The Pool to The Cavaliers – 0.9 Miles = 57 Lengths

The Pool to Great Torrington School – 0.5 miles = 32 Lengths

Organiser Louise Colome says that the event is a first for the Torrington Pool and it is one which should prove inspiring for the local community to take part in: “The event should inspire many local swimmers to burn off some excess Christmas calories while raising lots of money for a very good cause. Or to put it another way why not lose pounds to raise pounds, we have 4 distances to choose from to suit all abilities and we hope the Torrington Trawler will become an annual fun fundraising event for Torrington.”

The Torrington Trawler takes place on Sunday January 31st 9am-11am Torrington Pool. Entry fee is £10.00 per person or £30.00 for a team of four. To enter and get a sponsorship form, please contact Louise Colome 01805 623085 or at lcolome@1610.org.uk.
