As Johnny Brownlee takes on the World’s biggest Triathlon… Dorset’s Triathletes line up for the Dorchester Dash!

As Johnny Brownlee prepares to battle it out at the world’s biggest Triathlon in Hamburg, during the same weekend as that race takes place (Sunday July 16) Dorset’s very best Triathletes will be lining up to take on the Dorchester “ Dash “ Triathlon. (8am start Registration from 6.30am).

This challenging endurance event is a  “must do” on the South West Triathlon circuit where seasoned athletes and novices compete on one of the most picturesque Triathon routes.

The race is such an inspiring event as it takes competitors through some stunning  scenery and magnificent historic landscapes  Starting at Dorchester Sports Centre’s indoor 25m pool with a 400m swim, competitors then tackle a 24km cycling course which exits Dorchester via Poundbury and takes them to the summit of Hardy’s Monument. Returning to the Centre where the 5k run begins which takes in Maiden Castle, an Iron Age Fort which dates back to 4000BC.

Based at Dorchester Sports Centre on the Thomas Hardye School site the centre offers those taking part in the race, refreshments as well as use of the swimming pool, changing-rooms, toilets and showers. Finishers medals and goody bags will be provided plus age group prizes.

  • Min entry age: 16
  • Entry fee:  Single entrants = Affiliated £35 / Unaffiliated = £40.  Relay teams = Affiliated £45 / Unaffiliated = £50
  • Activities:  Free swim splash session for participants and their families, plus refreshments van and the team from Wessex FM will also be broadcasting live from this exciting event.
