Fresh air, fun and friends!

Our popular Outdoor & Adventures Holiday Programme is available to all outdoor loving 7 to 14 year olds during the summer holidays from 25th July – 2nd September. Based in the wonderful grounds of Hestercombe children can romp through our woods and enjoy a variety of outdoor adventures from climbing to forest skills to outdoor cookery. There are no computers or televisions – just lots of fun, friends and fresh air!

From paintball to climbing to mountain biking to forest skills, our holiday programme has something for everyone! Our adventure days are for children aged 7 to 14 years and run from 9.30am to 4.30pm and cost from £25 per child per day. Week 1

Tues 26 & Wed 27 July - Climbing Crazy (2 day activity)

Spend a day off the ground! 2 days of exhilarating climbing fun. Scale our 7 metre high climbing wall, climb a tree using a ships ladder, learn how to climb a rope and make a rope swing, work out how to cross a chasm using our slack lines. On day 2 we visit Quay Climbing Centre in Exeter - a fantastic opportunity to experience climbing on the South West’s largest indoor climbing wall. A day to remember!  £75 per child (entrance into Exeter Quays and transport included).

Thurs 28 July - Commando Day

Take part in camouflage and concealment & escape and evasion games, have a go at target shooting, build hides and set ambushes, conduct raids...great fun for boys and girls all day. £25 per child.

Week 2

Tues 2 August - Forest Skills Day

A fabulous way to spend a day outside in the fresh air. Let us show you how to make a brilliant whistle from an Elder tree or a proper pencil using a branch from an Ash tree. Have a go at making a spoon and boiling a kelly kettle to make a cup of hot chocolate. Perfect for boys and girls! £25 per child

Wed 3 and Thurs 4 August - Paintball (2 day activity)

Introduction to all things paintball! Learn how to target shoot, take part in a close quarter battle lane, will you survive the deadly Duel/Battlefield paintball games including team and individual scenarios, Capture the flag, Seizure Hestercombe Hill, Bomb disposal and Run rabbit run!? On day 2 we visit Skirmish Paintball in Exeter for a day of paintball at one of the UK’s premier sites. £75 per child (entrance fee/initial paintballs and transport costs included)

Week 3

Tues 9 to Thurs 10 August - Wild Adventure Camping (3 days of camping adventure)

Day 1 - Navigate to the campsite, set up home for the next 3 days, prepare the camp fire, familiarise yourself with the area. After lunch an afternoon full of fun outdoor activities awaits, from rope swings to dam building, then dinner in the gardens café followed by a night and badger watch! Day 2 - Breakfast around the camp fire followed by a day packed full of adventure and games - from raft building to mountain bike riding, paintball shooting to mud slides. It’s a day of outdoors fun! BBQ around the camp fire and a dark
o’clock walk through the haunted house of Hestercombe! Day 3 - Breakfast followed by camp take down and pack up. Then another day packed full of outdoor fun and games, from climbing to a scavenger hunt. The afternoon will be spent doing forest skills and making stuff. Home with lots of washing for mum and dad! £100 per child

Week 4

Tues 16 August - Raft Building Day

Always a very popular day…. Are you up to the task of designing and building a raft that will stay afloat? Come and find out on this fun and potentially very wet day. Spend the morning learning how to work as a team, building and constructing various things before you take on the rafting challenge! £25 per child.

Wed 17 & Thurs 18 August - Mountain Biking (day 2 activity)

Day 1 – Learn everything you need to know about mountain bikes and how to safely ride them off road. From repairing a puncture to fixing a chain, selecting the right gear to selecting the best route. Finish the day planning the route for the next day’s ride. Day 2 - plan and execute a ride over the beautiful Quantock Hills. Navigate the pre-prepared route right across the hills from Cothelstone Beacon to Holford Coombe - an exhilarating and challenging day of riding! £55 per child

Week 5

Spend the day exploring our woods, build a rope swing, navigate our streams, build dams and mud slides, take part in a scavenger hunt, its all a bit muddy and could get messy! Perfect for boys and girls who like to explore. £25 per child.
