Latest Covid Information for your local 1610 centre.

Although all legal Covid restrictions have now been lifted, we want to reassure our customers that we remain vigilant and have continued operating with a number of Covid safe practices, so that our staff and customers feel comfortable and safe .We continue to work hard to ensure we provide a safe environment for your health and wellbeing journey with us. We all have a role to play in keeping safe.

  • Safety measures

    What safety measures are still in place?

    We are confident in our ability to minimise the risk of infection and keep our members and staff safe. We still have enhanced cleaning procedures in place to create a safe environment for you to visit. These include:

    * Sanitising stations installed at key locations around the centre

    * Enhanced cleaning procedures throughout the centre in line with UK Active and Public Health England guidance

    * Comprehensive training for staff on new operating procedures ensuring member and staff safety is always a priority

    * Members are asked to still their bring own mats

    * Swimmers asked to arrive swim-ready in costume/shorts, to reduce time in changing facilities.

    * Swim teachers are not permitted to help swimmers with goggles and swim hats. Hats and goggles must not be loaned out.

    * Swim teachers will ensure that they follow lesson capacity

    * All sessions can be booked in advance. Although we are now offering the option for walk ins if there is space. These sessions can be booked via the 1610 app, website or contact centre.

  • Swimming Lessons

    What safety measures have been put in place for swimming lessons

    * Amended drop off /pick up method depending on each pool layout.

    * Enhanced cleaning of swim lesson equipment in between sessions.

    * Swimmers not allowed to share equipment.

    * Swim teachers are not permitted to help swimmers with goggles and swim hats. Hats and goggles must not be loaned out.

    * Swim teachers will ensure that they follow lesson capacity

    Are the changing rooms and showers available before and after the lesson?

    Changing rooms and showers are now open for those attending swim lessons at Trinity, Dorchester and South Molton.

    Where can we store belongings?

    Lockers are now open at Trinity and Dorchester.

    Can I watch my child during their lesson?

    You can now watch your children during their swim lessons at Trinity Sports and Leisure, Dorchester Sports Centre and South Molton Pool.

    Do I need to wear shoe protectors when escorting my child in the changing rooms?

    To reduce our environmental impact and single use plastic we have stopped using shoe covers and ask that everyone now removes their outer footwear before entering the changing room

    Will the teacher be able to help my child in the pool?

    Teachers are now able to assist children in the pool. Please help your child with putting on their goggles, hat and any flotation devices. .

    How can I change the time/day of my child's swimming lessons?

    Once lessons have commenced, please contact us at info@1610.org.uk to change your date. Current lesson times and days will remain as per your usual time otherwise.

    If you cancelled your direct debit during lockdown, your space will no longer be booked. If you would like to resume your booking, please submit your request using our online form to be added to our priority list.

    How can I sign up for new lessons once they resume?

    Yes. Due to their popularity, several of our swim programmes are almost full and spaces are limited. If you are looking to book children into lessons in the future, please complete our online form.

    Will you be offering 121 swim lessons?

    Yes.

  • Accessing the Gym and Class Studios

    Are you restricting numbers in the gym?

    Yes, although each of our centres is different and limits have almost increased back to Pre Covid levels. To ensure accessibility for all members, we have implemented 55 minute sessions which can still be booked in advance via the 1610 app, website or contact centre. We are also allowing walk ins if space is available

    Can I come to the gym more than once per day?

    Yes! There will be a maximum of 3 sessions per day per person.

    Have you reduced class sizes?

    Yes, we have reduced class sizes to help members feel safe and keep a safe distance. Although we are now increasing the numbers back to Pre Covid levels. When you book a session online you will be able to see how many people are currently booked in, so if you want to choose a quieter slot you have the option to do so.

    Will opening times change?

    Some of our centres will have slightly different opening hours which you can check by clicking here and selecting your chosen centre.

    Will I need to book to access the gym?

    All gym slots can be booked in advance via the 1610 app, website or contact centre. Walk-ins are now available if there is space.

    Can I turn up to book at reception?

    Yes you can, although we recommend people book in advance to guarantee their space

    Can I attend as a Pay as You Go?

    Yes. Before using the gym as a PAYG user for the first time, you must book a Kickstart Welcome at a cost of £10. This includes your access card and a consultation where we will show you how to use the equipment and discuss your fitness objectives and goals. The Kickstart Welcome can be booked online or on the phone. You will not be able to access the gym until your consultation has taken place and you have been given your access card.

    What happens when I arrive?

    We recommend people arrive already dressed in their workout gear. Try to arrive no more than 5 minutes early. When the session finishes, please leave the gym or studio as quickly as possible unless you have booked back to back sessions.

    How long can I stay in the gym?

    Gym slots are for 55mins, however if you would like to stay on we do now allow this if space is available

    What do I need to bring with me?

    As our mats will be out of use, please bring your own with you. Water stations are now open

    Can I use the lockers?

    Our lockers are available to use

    Are the changing facilities and showers available?

    Changing facilities and showers are available at the following facilities;

    1610 Chard
    Caryford Leisure Centre
    Dorchester Sports Centre
    King Alfred Sports Centre

    South Molton Pool
    Trinity Sports and Leisure

    We do however encourage all customers to change at home before and after the gym and to bring minimal belongings.

    Should I wear a mask?

    You are not required to wear a mask in the gym or studios, however, you can do so if you would feel more comfortable. Masks are optional when circulating the building. Please remember to wash your hands before and after and dispose safely.

    Should I clean the equipment before and after use?

    In addition to extensive and frequent cleaning by our staff, there will be santisising equipment available for you to clean your kit before and after use.

    Will I be able to use the water fountains?

    Yes these are now open

    Can I bring a towel?

    Towels can be used in all classes and gym. Paper towels will still be provided for you to wipe down equipment as we ask members to kindly not bring in your own towels into the gym

    Will toilet facilities be open?

    Yes, our toilets will be open for you to use.

    What measures have been put in place for the gym and class studios?

    * Sanitising stations installed encouraging frequent hand and equipment cleaning before and after use

    * Enhanced cleaning procedures in line with UK Active and Public Health England guidance

    * Amended gym capacities and class timetables

    * Plastic shield installation on gym equipment to enable safe social distancing

    * Members asked to bring own yoga mats

    * Members asked to travel light and come wearing work out kit, if possible.

  • Accessing the Swimming Pool

    What safety measures have been put in place for the swimming pool?

    * Sanitising stations installed encouraging frequent hand and equipment cleaning before and after use

    * Enhanced cleaning procedures in line with Swim England and Public Health England guidance

    * Swimmers are encouraged to arrive swim-ready in costume/shorts, to limit the time in the changing rooms

    * We recommend that all swim sessions (inc pay as you go) are booked in advance to maintain capacities . These can be booked via the 1610 app, website or contact centre.

    All 1610 centres do now allow customers to book and pay in person at the centre subject to space and availability within sessions.

    Can I turn up and swim?

    Where do I change?

    Changing rooms are available at the following centres
    Dorchester Sports Centre
    South Molton Pool
    Trinity Sports and Leisure

    We do still encourage all customers to arrive swim-ready in costume/shorts, as changing facilities to limit the time in changing rooms

    Can I swim even if i am not a member?

    Yes! You dont need to be a member to use our pool, we do encourage all customers to pre-book their session in advance via the 1610 app, website or phone to ensure they get a space

    Are the hoists available?

    Yes, the hoists will be available.

    What the arrangements are for changing for people with additional needs?

    Any swimmers with additional needs will be required to bring a carer or individual to help assist with changing. Any further questions please feel free to call ahead.

  • Junior activities & Parties

    Will you be running activities for children during the school holidays?

    Dorchester Sports Centre and Trinity Sports and Leisure are now running a number of swim crash courses over the holidays periods.

    When will Love Sport and junior activities resume?

    Trinity Sports and Leisure and Robert Blake and Elmwood Leisure, Love Sport programme is back up and running, which includes Gymnastics and Trampolining

    Dorchester Sports Centre offers Junior Swim lessons and Junior Water Polo.

    Are you holding birthday parties?

    Yes all centres are now offering Birthday party packages again for details on what your centre offers click here

  • Hall Hire & Block Bookings

    Are you taking block bookings for outdoor sports?

    Trinity, Robert Blake, and Dorchester outdoor pitches are now open. If you are interested in making a booking on one of our outdoor pitches please contact your local centre today.

    Are you taking block bookings for indoor sports?

    Yes. Customers can now make a booking by calling your local centre or booking online .

    Can I hire sport equipment?

    Yes you can hire for sports sessions, such as badminton racquets.

  • Training Courses

    When will training courses resume, such as NPLQ?

    We will advertise new course dates on our website and social media pages.

  • We ask that members and staff do not attend if they feel unwell or are showing COVID-19 symptoms.
  • We recommend that you pre-book gym and class sessions in advance via the 1610 app, website or contact centre
  • Ensure we have your correct contact details on our system, to enable track and trace
  • Please bring your own drink and mat
  • Travel light and we recommend that you turn up ready to work out in your gym kit to limit use of lockers and changing facilities.
  • Use the Sanitising Stations to clean your hands and kit before and after use. Paper towels only for cleaning equipment.
