GP Referral

GP Referrals, also known as ProActive exercise referral has been designed to encourage individuals and groups to be more active and improve health and wellbeing. The course runs over a 12 week period (16 sessions), offering a variety of sessions and activities per week specifically for  ProActive participants. All sessions are supervised with a fully qualified and experienced member of our team.

Many people are eligible to join a GP referral scheme ( it’s not only the GP who can refer you, physiotherapists, midwives, and other medical and health professionals can all sign post you). The list below shows some of the medical conditions which are commonly referred:

• Asthma
• Overweight / Obese
• Diabetes
• Arthritis
• Osteoporosis
• Angina
• Neurological
• Muscular skeletal
• Depression
• Falls

After the initial referral you will be contacted by a central coordinator, to inform you where the next available course is running. Our experienced instructors will then set up an initial meeting where paperwork will be looked at, an assessment form completed and a discussion about what your aims and goals are regarding fitness and getting active. You will then have a one to one induction and be shown exercise equipment and exercises which will help you achieve your goals. Exercise activities can include gym, studio, or pool based workouts.

The aim of GP referrals is to encourage you to stay active and to keep exercising after the 12 week course finishes, helping to improve your lifestyle and increasing your activity levels.
